Papers of history professor John R. Smail documenting his anti-Vietnam War activities and his involvement in Democratic politics. Included are speeches, correspondence, memoranda, and meeting minutes mainly concerning the anti-war movement among professors at the University of Wisconsin and other universities. There is also material on the 19th Ward Committee of Concerned Citizens of the City of Madison, the Milwaukee Organizing Committee, the University of Wisconsin Faculty for Peace, the Wisconsin delegation to the 1968 Democratic National Convention, and hearings on Vietnam held by Congressman Robert Kastenmeier in Madison in 1965.
